A consumer electronic magazine, This Week in Consumer Electronics (TWICE), reports that Kenwood has agreed to merge in 2008 with Victor Company of Japan (JVC) under a holding company. JVC is owned by Matsushita Electric Industrial Company. Japan's Nikkei business newspaper reports that the final details should be worked out by the end of the month, and that under the plan, Kenwood will buy 20 billion yen ($161,469,466) in JVC shares as early as this summer, raising its stake to 13 percent.

Matsushita will also sell part of its 52.7 percent of JVC to Kenwood's top shareholder, the Sparx Group. When JVC and Kenwood integrate operations under the holding company in 2008, Matsushita will sell the rest of its JVC shares to the holding company to complete the transaction. The holding company's stock will be listed instead of Kenwood and JVC, according to Nikkei. Combined, Kenwood's and JVC's sales are $7.3 billion dollars annually for their fiscal year that ended March 31.

DXCC NEWS. Bill Moore, NC1L, ARRL DXCC Manager, reports: "The 2006 DXCC Yearbook
- Jun 22, 2007 16:19 ET The 2006 DXCC Yearbook is now at the printer and it is

than usual it is still within the DXCC timeframe for this publication. In order

this Web page too.

HAMIGG (Ham Social Forum)
Christian, DL6KAC, informs OPDX about a new project he has started last week
called HAMigg (http://hamigg.de). It is a social bookmarking platform similar to
digg.com (therefore HAMigg = Ham Radio + Digg). Christian states, "The big
difference is HAMigg is limited to ham radio and technical topics only. In my
opinion, Digg.com and all other platforms are heavily congested and it is really
difficult to find the 'good stuff'. HAMigg is an effort to change this a bit.
The idea is the following:
Users can submit interesting stories or articles which they have found on the
internet (DX news, websites, ham software [freeware], ham radio news in general
etc.). Other users can vote on these stories via an interactive voting system.
Submissions or articles which receive a lot of positive votes will rank high,
others will rank lower, helping to sort the submitted articles. RSS feeds are
available so that users can easily subscribe and stay updated once new
submissions are online. In a nutshell it's all about content for hams by hams."
Christian has compiled a more detailed write-up about the new project at:
http://ham-blog.de/radio-blog/2007/ham-radio-goes-diggcom-hamigg/
