A.N.A.R.T.S. News Bulletin 1457 for 12th August 2007
New Prefix in the Works for Bosnia and Herzegovina: The ITU has
granted a request from the Ministry of Communications and Transport of
Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) to replace T9A-T9Z with E7A-E7Z. According
to IARU Secretary David Sumner, K1ZZ, "While it probably will take some
time for the BiH administration to implement this change, it should put
to an end the use of call signs outside the ITU-allocated call sign
block by stations in parts of BiH." The new prefix will be implemented
"probably later this year," Sumner said.

The Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin No. 820 - excerpts
6C60, SYRIA
Look for Syrian hams to use the special prefix 6C60 to celebrate the 60th
anniversary of amateur radio in Syria during the period October 15th to November
15th on all HF bands.
AM/AN/AO/EG7, SPAIN
Members of the El Grupo RASE DX will be on the air between September 3-16th, to
celebrate the centenary of the "I Centenario of the Royal Betis" football club
in Spain. They are expected to use the special prefix AM, AN and AO, and the
special event station EG7CRB during this event. Activity will be on VHF and HF
bands, CW, SSB and the Digital modes. A special diploma and QSL card is
available. For more details about the event, visit the Web page:
http:/www.rasedx.com
CE0Z, JUAN FERNANDEZ ISLANDS (Change)
Ulli, DL2AH, will be active as CE0Z/DL2AH from March 18th to April 7th, 2008
(not March 11-26th as first announced; this is due to airlane flight problems).
Activity will be holiday style on 40-10 meters mainly on SSB and RTTY using a
FT-897. QSL via DL2AH, direct or by the Bureau.
FP, ST. PIERRE AND MIQUELON
Operators John/W9ILY and Bob/K9MDO will be going to Miquelon (NA-032) and be
active as FP/W9ILY and FP/K9MDO. John informs OPDX that the operations will
begin on Thursday, September 13th (or possibly the evening of Wednesday,
September 12th) and continue through Tuesday, September 18th. Operations will be
from the famous MAXOTEL that has been used by several previous DXpeditions.
Activity is planned for all bands 80-10 meters. They will be concentrating on
SSB (primarily FP/K9MDO) and RTTY/PSK (primarily FP/W9ILY). Their equipment will
be two TS-570D(G) rigs, 100 watts and no amps, and they plan to use the antennas
that were donated by previous DXpeditions. Due to the strict weight restrictions
of Air St. Pierre, they believe that 100 watts with good verticals at the sea
will provide good, workable signals. QSL routes are as follows:
FP/W9ILY - QSL direct or by the Bureau. Contacts will be uploaded to LoTW ASAP
following the DXpedition.
FP/K9MDO - QSL via W9NJB direct or by the Bureau.
John states, "This will be a 'laid-back' type of DXpedition to give us and the
DX community the maximum enjoyment. Thus, we do not envision a 24-hour
operation, especially with only two operators."
GB, ENGLAND (Special Event)
Robert, G8ATE, states, "A small group of satellite enthusiasts in the East
Midlands of England are planning to operate a special event (GB) station to
celebrate the forthcoming 50th anniversary of the world's first Earth orbiting
satellite SPUTNIK ONE from October 3rd for one month." More details are
forthcoming.

on 6m SSB and on 20m SSB and 20m PSK31. QSL direct to W4SAR (QRZ.com).
IPY STATION
Look for Charles, MØOXO, to again activate the special event station GB4IPY
until August 30th. Activity is to celebrate the "Inter- national Polar Year
(IPY)". The International Polar Year Events run until 2009 and has been set up
to raise awareness about the plights of our Polar Regions in respect of Global
Warming and other matters of interest. The GB4IPY station is the only station
active from the U.K. and for the World- Wide Antarctic Program it has a
reference number of WAP-098 for the WAP chasers. The station will be active on
the HF bands and 6m using SSB, CW and PSK31 modes several times each week. There
is also a new award now available by the operator and can be claimed for working
a combination of GB4IPY and GB0ANT stations on various bands and modes. Details
about the GB4IPY/GBØANT award can be found on MØOXO Web site at:

LIGHTHOUSE ACTIVITIES (ILLW is August 18-19th)
Members of the "RADIO CLUB URUGUAYO" will activate "Faro Puerto del Buceo West

upcoming ILLW activity, August 18-19th. Activity will take place from Friday,
August 17th, 2200z until Monday, 20th 0100z, on all bands from 160-10 meters on
CW and SSB with at least two stations using the special callsign CV1AA. If
possible, some digital modes and VHF 2 meter operation will also be active too.
QSL for this activity only DIRECT to: Radio Club Uruguayo, P.O.Box 37,11000,
Montevideo, URUGUAY, SOUTH AMERICA, with SASE and IRC or 2 green stamps.
Members of the Associacao de Radioamadores da Vila de Moscavide will be signing
CT1RVM/p during ILLW 2007 from Cabo Raso Lighthouse - reference number ARLHS
POR011. This activity will also be valid for the Portuguese Lighthouses Award
(Reference number DFP FES04), and the Portuguese Castles and Fortresses Award
(Reference number DCFP F141 - Forte de Sao Bras). Activity will be on 40, 20, 15
and 10 meters, SSB. Look for them near the World Lighthouse frequencies.
Suggested SSB frequencies (+/- 20 khz) are: 7070, 14270, 21370, 28370 kHz. QSL

during the International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend (ILLW). Operators will be
Leonardo/TA1FR and Tevfik/TA1HZ. Detailed information is available at:
http://tc1lhw.tripod.com/index.html
Also see: (QRZ.com)
Look for TA2RX to activate the Taslik Gelidonya Lighthouse (TUR-049) for the
first time during the ILLW. There is no electricity or generator there. Due to
the hard conditions to reach the lighthouse - nearest road suitable for vehicle
traffic is 2 kms away - the operator will be operating QRP, using a car battery
(He has to carry all the equipment for 2 miles on foot). Operations will be only
20 and 40 meters. So watch out for this QRP DXpedition.
Station W2T will be activated by members of the Old Barney ARC from the Tucker's
Island Lighthouse (ARLHS USA-911) on Saturday, August 18th, from about 1300z
through 2100z. QSL via N2OO. Visit the following Web pages:

Jovica's new assignment with UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for
Refugees) is in Dakar, Senegal, and will start on September 1st. Details about
his activities will be forthcoming once he has time to settle in at his new
location. Being in the regional office of the UNHCR, Jovica's work area covers
the whole western part of Africa and he hopes to activate most of countries in
the region. Boris, T93Y, states, "Information about HAM activity from countries
other than Senegal will be distributed accordingly. Jovica thanks DXers for the
