ARRL DXCC Desk Approves 9U0A Operation: ARRL DXCC Manager Bill Moore,
NC1L, reports that the 2007 9U0A DXpedition to Burundi has been approved
for DXCC credit. "If you had cards rejected for this operation, please
send an e-mail to the ARRL DXCC Desk <DXCC@arrl.org> and you will be
placed on the list for update," Moore said.

Solar flare activity was very low all week.

Geomagnetic activity observed for the Australian region was quiet to active on 26th; quiet to unsettled on 27th, 28th and 30th; mostly quiet to unsettled with isolated active periods on 29th; and quiet on 31st and 1st.

Southern Australian ionospheric F2 critical frequencies were depressed 20 to 15 per cent on 26th; depressed 15 per cent to near predicted on 27th; mostly near predicted on 28th; near predicted to 30 per cent depressed on 29th and 30th; and near predicted to 25 per cent depressed on 31st and 1st.

Forecast for 2nd to 8th November

Solar activity should be low.

Geomagnetic activity should see mostly quiet to unsettled conditions.

Frequencies should be near predicted monthly values with depressions to 30 per cent at times.

The Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin No. 830 - excerpts

3X, GUINEA
Members of the VooDoo Contest Group have announced that its project for CQ World
Wide DX CW Contest (November 24-25th) will be in 3X-land. This will be the
group's 14th straight year operating from a different country in West Africa as
a Multi-Multi category in the contest. Roger, G3SXW, in a press release states,
"We will mount seven 1KW stations with monoband antennas for all six bands right
beside the Atlantic Ocean in Conakry, the capital of Guinea. The callsign we
have been allocated is 3XY5D. We still hope to secure a shorter call but this is
now the most likely to be used in the contest.
We also have a VHF licence for 2mtr EME: 3XT1 (3X tango one with no suffix). QSL
3XY5D via G3SXW." The team will also be active a few days before and after the
contest. Operators mentioned are: Roger/G3SXW, Fred/G4BWP, John/G4IRN,
Robbie/GM3YTS, Bob/K4UEE, Vince/ K5VT and Ned/AA7A. All logs will be uploaded to
LoTW soon after their return home. Roger, G3SXW, states, "This is one of our
more daring DX- peditions. We face the possible risk of civil unrest, washed-out
roads and banditry, not to mention zero sunspots! We hope to C U in the

Operator Yoshiaki, JA1OCZ, a member of 9M4SDX team, will be active as 9M4DXX
from Penang, November 7-12th. Activity will be on 80-10 meters, CW, SSB and FM.

IOTA NEWS

NA-035. Reports indicate that Javier, HR2J, and a group of operators will
activate Swan Island for 6 days between March 16-23rd (2008). The callsign will
be HQ8R. The last planned operation (this year) was cancelled due transportation
problems. The Honduran Navy is willing to take the team to the island for one
week in March if they pay for the diesel for the boat. Javier is currently
looking for 5 or 6 U.S. amateurs to join him and help with the cost of the
transportation. Also, members of the Radio Club of Honduras (RCH) are now
expected to participate in this special DXpedition. Cost of ship is 4500 USDs.

I, ITALY (Rare Province)
OPDX was informed that there will be an operation from the rare Matera Province
of Italy on November 10-11th using the callsign I7ALE/7 or IK8SHL/7. Operations
will be on CW with some SSB possible. Activity will be good for the WAIP award.

JD1, OGASAWARA
Koya, JI5RPT, will once again be active as JD1BLY, February 13-28th (2008).
Activity will probably be 160-6 meters on CW, SSB and the satellites. QSL via
JI5RPT.

S2, BANGLADESH
Stig, LA7JO, will be active as S21JO during the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest
(November 24-25th). Operating class unknown. QSL via the infor on (QRZ.com).

SPECIAL EVENT
Look for special event station IY1EY to be active between November 3-11th.
Activity is to celebrate Marconi's radio eletric experiments on the Elettra
Ship from 1919 to 1936 in the Ligurian Sea. Look for operations to be on all
modes (CW/SSB/RTTY) and bands. Also, IY1EY qualifies for the "Loano Elettra
Award". To receive a special QSL card reproducing Marconi's legendary boat
"Elettra", QSL via IK1QBT.

V4, ST.KITTS AND NEVIS
Mark, K0EJ, will be active as V49A during the ARRL DX CW Contest (February
16-17th) as a Single-Op/All-Band/Low-Power entry. Look for activity outside of
the contest (signing V44/K0EJ). QSL via V44NK.

V8, BRUNEI DARUSSALAM
Just a reminder that operators Ronald/PA3EWP, Flo/F5CWU and Tom/GM4FDM will be
active from here next weekend between November 4-18th. Callsigns are as follows:

ARRLD045 DX news for 2nd November 2007

MONACO, 3A. Strange Radio Team members IZ0BTV and F5VKV will be QRV
as 3A/IZ0BTV and 3A/F5VKV, respectively, beginning November 3.
Activity will be on 160, 80 and 40 meters using SSB, RTTY and PSK.

MALAWI, 7Q. Harry is QRV as 7Q7HB and has been active using RTTY on
20 meters between 1630 and 1730z. QSL via G0IAS.

WEST MALAYSIA, 9M2. JA1OCZ will be QRV as 9M4DXX from Penang from
November 7 to 12. Activity will be on 80 to 10 meters using CW, SSB
and FM. He will try to make an effort in the upcoming JIDX contest.

QATAR, A7. Bill, G0MKT is QRV as A7/G0MKT until January 1, 2008.
Activity is on 40 to 6 meters using mostly CW, and possibly with

LIECHTENSTEIN, HB0. Members of the Hungarian Traveling Amateur
Radio Team, HA0HW, HA4DX and HA4XG, will be QRV as HB0/homecalls
from Masescha from November 6 to 14. Activity will be on all HF
bands, with an emphasis on 160 and 80 meters, and possibly 2 meters,

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, HI. Michelle, IK5ZUI is QRV as HI9/IK5ZUI from
Las Terrenas. His length of stay is unknown. QSL via operator's

ITALY, I. Look for special event station IY1EY to be QRV from
November 3 to 11 to celebrate Marconi's radio electric experiments
on the Elettra Ship from 1919 to 1936 in the Ligurian Sea. Activity

QRV from November 3 to 19 to mark the 20th anniversary of the

CHAD, TT. Phil, TT8PK has been QRV on 15 meters around 1300z and
then 20 meters around 1700z. QSL via F4EGS.

NEW ZEALAND, ZL. Steve, G4EDG will be QRV as ZL4/G4EDG from Stewart
Island, IOTA OC-203, from November 5 to 7. He may have his own ZL
callsign by the time the operation takes place. Activity will be on
40 to 17 meters using only CW. QSL direct to home call.

THIS WEEKEND ON THE RADIO. The ARRL CW Sweepstakes Contest, NCCC CW
Sprint, IPARC CW Contest, Ukrainian DX Contest, North America
Collegiate ARC CW Championship, IPARC SSB Contest, High Speed Club
CW Contest and the DARC 10-Meter Digital Contest will certainly keep
contesters busy this weekend. The ARS Spartan Sprint is scheduled
for November 6.
