A.N.A.R.T.S. News Bulletin 1470 for 11th November 2007

The 2007 ARRL Frequency Measuring Test (FMT) will take place November 15
(UTC). It will be conducted using essentially the same format as last
year's FMT. The 2007 FMT will run November 15 at 0245 UTC (November 14
at 9:45 PM EST). It will replace the W1AW normally scheduled phone
bulletin. W1AW Station Manager Joe Carcia, NJ1Q, recommends that those
planning to participate listen to W1AW's transmissions prior to the
event to determine which band--or bands--will be best for measurement
purposes.

The FMT will start with a general QST call from W1AW at exactly 0245
UTC, transmitted simultaneously on three amateur frequencies. The
approximate frequencies are 1854 kHz, 3583 kHz and 7045 kHz. The test
will consist of three 60-second key down transmissions for each band,
followed by a series of dits, followed by a station identification.

The test will last for approximately 15 minutes and will end with a
series of Vs followed by station identification. W1AW will identify
before, during and after the transmissions.

In addition to the W1AW transmissions, Mike Fahmie, WA6ZTY, will also
conduct a West Coast Frequency Measuring Test 30 minutes prior to W1AW.
Look for the West Coast transmission around 7045 kHz beginning at 0215
UTC (6:15 PM PST). The transmissions will consist of three 60-second key
down periods separated by a station identification. The West Coast FMT
will last for approximately 10 minutes total.

This year, your report should be submitted via the FMT Report form on
the W1AW FMT Web site. Along with your call sign and e-mail address,
enter your most accurate measurement on each band and indicate whether
you measured the W1AW (or WA6ZTY) signal. There will be a window to list
your equipment, describe the method you used to make the measurements
and enter any Soapbox comments. There is a slight change in that
participants have 14 days to input their data. Both the W1AW and WA6ZTY
measured frequencies -- in addition to inputted data -- will be
available on the W1AW FMT Web page after the 14 day period. Participants
may input their data more than once, although the final entry will be
the one used for the results

W1AW will post the transmitted frequencies on the FMT Web site following
the test. This will allow participants to quickly determine the accuracy
of their equipment and methods.

The Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin No. 831 - excerpts

3B8, MAURITIUS (AF-049)
Remember to look for Ronnie, SM7DKF, to be active this week as 3B8/SM7DKF
between November 8-24th. This will be a holiday style operation with activity on
the usual IOTA frequencies, mostly SSB and perhaps digital modes. QSL direct to
his home callsign (see (QRZ.com). For more details, visit:
http://www.sm7dkf.se/index-info.htm

6E, REVILLAGIGEDO
Members of the radio club "Federacion Mexicana de Radio Experimentadores" (FMRE)
will activate Socorro Island (NA-030, WLOTA LH-2941, WW Loc. DK48MS) in the
Revillagigedo (XF4) Island group, between November 15th and December 17th. They
will use the callsign 6E4LM. Their activity is to celebrate the 75th anniversary
of FMRE. Team members will include Carlos/XE1YK, Manuel/XE1VVD, Eduardo/XE2YW
and Daniel/XE3RBA. Look for activity to be on 160-10 meters plus 6 and 2 meters,
and 70cm, with operations on CW, SSB, digital modes and the satellites.

A7, QATAR
Bill, NM7H (aka G0MKT and YI9WF), is expected to be active as A7/G0MKT, possibly
by the time you read this, and he will be here until January 5th (2008).
Activity will be primarily CW with some PSK and some SSB on 40-10 meters. He may
even be on 6 meters if the band opens up. QSL via NM7H, direct or by the bureau.

E5/S, SOUTH COOK ISLANDS
Operators George/K5KG and Ron/KK9K will be active as E51MMM and E51NNN,
respectively, from Rarotonga Island (OC-013) in the South Cook Islands group,
November 12th through December 1st. They plan to concentrate heavily on 160/80
meters. All QSL requests should go to K5KG.

HB0, LIECHTENSTEIN
Look for the "Hungarian Traveling Amateur Radio Team" to be active from here
again between November 6-14th. Operators will be Laci/HA0HW, Tomi/HA4DX and
Geza/HA4XG. They will operate from Masescha (JN47SD, 1350 m ASL) as
HB0/homecall. Activity will be on the HF bands, CW, SSB, maybe some digital
modes plus 2m on tropo and MS. Their main focus will be on 160 and 80 meters
using an Inverted-L antennas and amplifiers. On other bands they will use DunaX
gps. QSL via HA Bureau is "OK" or direct via the operator's (QRZ.com) address.

J5, GUINEA BISSAU (Update)
The "F6KOP TEAM" is planning a DXpedition to Guinea Bissau on Bubaque Island
(AF-020 and WLOTA 1145) between January 11-21st (2008). Their callsign will be
J5C. This is the same group that was active as XT2C from Burkina Faso. They hope
to be able to use all their skills and experiences gained from the past XT2C
operation as well as being active on as many bands as possible simultaneously.
Activity will be on 160-10 meters, but the team will focus on the lower bands
160-40m). There will be no 6 meters because this band is not allowed in J5-land.
Modes will be mainly CW, SSB, RTTY, PSK31, PSK63 and MFSK16. As usual, they will
try to make contacts on SSTV at the end of the DXpedition. Among their goals is
to accomplish the first ever QSO between Japan (JA) and Guinea Bissau (J5) on
160m.

J7, DOMINICA (NA-101)
Operators Harald/DL5HAQ, Manfred/DK6HA and Siegfried/DL3HBZ will be active as
J75/DK0RZ, November 4-17th. Activity will be on all bands and modes. QSL via
DK0RZ (QRZ.com).

MD, ISLE OF MAN (EU-116)
Operators Rosel/DL3KWR and Hardy/DL3KWF will be on holiday here between November
17-30th. Look for them to sign MD/homecall and be active "after Tea Time" mainly
on CW and the WARC bands. Hardy plans to work on RTTY and PSK31. Also, look for
activity during the CQWW DX CW Contest. QSLs via their home callsigns. QSLs may
also be requested via E-mail to: dl3kwr@darc.de -or- dl3kwf@darc.de Also, check
their Web page at:
http://www.mydarc.de/dl3kwr

VK9, NORFOLK ISLAND (OC-005)
Ulli, DL2AH, is now active as VK9ANH until November 15th. Activity has been
mainly on 20 meters SSB. He is expected to be on 40-10 meters, SSB and RTTY. QSL
via his home callsign.

VK9, COCOS-KEELING ISLANDS
Operators Bernd/VK2IA and Jan/DJ8NK will be active as VK9AA and VK9CCC,
respectively, between November 18-26th. Activity will be on 160-10 meters, CW,
SSB and RTTY. Look for VK9AA in the CQ World Wide DX CW Contest (November
24-25th). QSL VK9AA via DL8YR and VK9CCC via DJ8NK.
