On the internet, search for CAP ES4D and there you can find a list of files to use with Google Earth.

You can check ionospheric conditions pertinent to radio such as:
Total Electron Content; Maximum Useable Frequency; foF2; Past 24 hours TEC movie; and Past 24 hours MUF movie.

Double-click or drag-drop the files selected above onto the Google Earth application icon.

In Google Earth, select one or more the desired views under Places.

Select optional Google Earth Views: Weather in the Layers sidebar;
Terrain in the Layers sidebar; Grid (lat/long) under View Menu;
Atmosphere under View Menu.

This application is the result of cooperation between NASA and Google.

Solar flare activity was very low all week.

Geomagnetic activity observed for the Australian Region was quiet to unsettled on 25th to 28th, and 1st; quiet on 29th; and quiet to active on 30th.

Southern Australian Ionospheric F2 critical frequencies were near predicted 25th to 30th; and near predicted to 35 per cent enhanced on 1st.

Forecast for 2nd to 8th May.

Solar activity should be low.

Geomagnetic activity should have quiet to unsettled conditions.

Frequencies should be near predicted monthly values.

3The Ohio/Penn DX Bulletin No. 856 - excerpts

3D, FIJI
Eddie/VK4AN and his son Raj/VK4FRAJ (age 13) will be active as 3D2A from Malolo
Lailai Island (in the Mamanuca Group, IOTA OC-121) between May 17-31st. They
will be taking 3 rigs with them: 2 FT-450AT with ALS-500M amps and a FT-100 for
6m (beacon/QSOs). Suggested frequencies are:
SSB - 3795, 7095, 14195, 18145, 21295, 24925 and 28495 kHz
RTTY - 7042, 10112, 14082, 18102, 21082 and 28082 kHz
PSK31 - 7042, 10112, 14072, 18102, 21072 and 28072 kHz
CW - band edge + 2-5 kHz

9A08, CROATIA (Special Event)
Special event station 9A08P (Nine Alpha ZERO EIGHT Papa) has been active since
April 1st and will be active through December 31st. Activity is to celebrate the
City of Djurdjevac, and operations will be on all bands and modes. A special QSL
card will be issued with a story on it. All QSOs will be confirmed automatically
via the bureau.

EM5, UKRAINE
Members of the Ukrainian National Team will be active as EM5HQ during the 2008
IARU HF Contest (July 12-13th). QSL manager for this year event is UR5EAW
(Alexander Shevchenko). All QSLs will be sent 100% via the QSL Bureau. PLEASE
NOTE: Stations making 4 QSOs with the station EM5HQ will be sent a special
certificate.

GB, ENGLAND (Special Event)
Members of the Bittern DX Group (in con- junction with Holt Town Council) will
activate the special event station GB0GFH between May 3-5th. Activity is to
celebrate the 300th anniversary of the "Great Fire of Holt", in Norfolk.
Activity will be on all bands 160-10 meters and as well as 2 meters. The group's
challenge is to contact as many stations from places called "HOLT" worldwide
during their 3 day event. So if you live in or near a town or place called HOLT,
call them. QSL direct to M0CNP. More information about the fire and the club's

EU-095. Members of the EME Phoceen Radio Club (F5KDK) will be active as TM5F
from Frioul Archipelago between August 15-18th. Activity will be on the HF

MJ, JERSEY
Operators Charles/M0OXO and Nigel/M0NJW will be active as MJ0X from Les Minquiers Islands (EU-099) during the RSGB IOTA Contest (July 26-27th). Outside of the contest, look for Charles to sign GB8LMI (GB8 Les Minquiers Islands) between July 23-29th. QSL via M3ZYZ.

PACIFIC TOUR
Ulli, DL2AH, will once again be travelling, but this time to the Pacific areas
between September and early November. First stop will be Samoa in September
(specific dates have not be announced yet). Second stop will be Manua Islands
(OC-077) in the American Samoa Island group between October 7-27th. Look for him
to sign KH8/DL2AH. Third stop will be Tonga between October 29th and November
9th. Callsign has not been issued yet. Operations from the above will be holiday
style with activity on 40-10 meters, mainly SSB with some RTTY. He will use a
FT897 and Windom antenna. QSL via DL2AH, direct (see (QRZ.com)) or by the
bureau.

PY100, BRAZIL (Special Event)
Special event station PY100JA will now be on the air through December to
commemorate the 100th anniversary of 1st Japanese immigration to Brazil. The
special callsign will be used by a group of PY2 stations on 160-6 meters on all
modes. QSLs will be available after September 2008, by the Bureau or direct via
PY2PA.

SX2, GREECE (Special Event)
Operators Kostas/SV2CWV, Diana/SV2HRV/DL2HRV, Archelaos/SV2KBB and Kostas/SV2LBB
will be active using the special callsign SX2MT (Makedonian Tombs) during the
2008 International Museums Weekend (Museums ON THE AIR!) from the Museum of
Vergina (Royal Tombs) in Hellas. The International Museums Weekend (IMW)takes
place on the weekends of June 14-15th and 21-22nd. Activity will be on all bands
and modes. Reference numbers are: Grid Locator KN10dl, Museum Nr. I.M.W. #5178
